River jasper (Orbicular Jasper) formed over millennia in the sedimentary layer of the earth, when silica-rich fluids filled the cavities of porous volcanic rocks and slowly hardened into micro crystalline quartz. Trace minerals became trapped as the silica set, producing this array of color. It is typically collected from the gravel, and banks of current or ancient waterways making it one of the safer stones to mine.
In the stone medicine of ancient Taoism these sedimentary stones or Wei level stones are associated with surface level issues such as emotions. Opaque stones like jasper are considered Yin and are believed to transmute a feminine energy.
In ancient Taoism red is a very energizing color and white is very restorative. The pink from the two together feels like a powerful presence. Yellow represents abundance and right relationship. Green represents renewal and in the Chakra system it is the color of the heart chakra. The Beautiful combination of colors these stones display hold the energy of an alive and open heart. Grounded and present in the safety of abundance yet open to new growth. The intricate floral cut out reflects that same sentiment.
